BurroFest 2023

June 2023

It’s been awhile. We hear that alot in the blog-o-sphere. I think with the 2020 Covid Lockdown and life with a crafty (now) 9 year old entrepreneur, a full teaching schedule I didn’t have the energy to write, or even know what to write about.

On the 17th of June, in Mancos, Colorado, I will be participating in the annual BurroFest as one of the artist vendors. I discovered the Mancos BurroFest last year, while scrolling FaceBook, of course. What? Art AND Donkeys? Count me in. And, we had the BEST time. Got to pet ALL the donkeys, met so many cool people (donkeys are always cool), checked out all the great artists and artwork.

I waited patiently (kinda) for them to announce this year’s event dates, and when they did, I contacted them, fully expecting to have their artist lineup already blocked in. But instead, they invited me to apply, and I did. Now here I am, frantically trying to figure out what to bring. So I finally decided – small originals, some larger paintings of the donkey I am paired with, and of course, a variety of stickers.

BurroFest artists are all paired with a donkey. My match is named Kidd. He lives in Flagstaff with his owners Amanda & Chris, with his donkey friend Big Mac, horse friend Hobbes, and 13 goat friends. And two border collies. Follow him @bigmac_and_thekidd on Instagram. They also do Pack Racing. Kidd is called a “Mammoth Donkey” – so taller than the average donkey – he kinda looks like a horse with big ears. Very handsome.

So, if you’re in the Mancos area on June 17th, the BurroFest goes from 10am -3pm. Here’s the Mancos Creative District link – https://mancoscreativedistrict.com/event/mancos-burrofest-2023/

I’ll be there, with a wide selection of original art & stickers. Come say hi!
